Selecting a Bank

Whether you are a paralegal, a doctor or a security guard in London, if you have recently moved to the city to work, you will need to open an appropriate bank account. Choosing between all of the available options here is not always easy; however, with a little research and some common sense, you should manage perfectly well.

Begin your search by doing a survey of all of the available banking institutions. You will find that these vary from large, corporate institutions, to smaller, more specifically-directed establishments. Determining which of these is right for you will be a matter of investigating each one fairly thoroughly.

Start by dismissing those options that are clearly directed at large companies and not individuals, and eliminate, in addition, institutions catering for clients in an income bracket which is not your own. This should leave you with fewer alternatives from which to choose.

Now that your list is significantly shorter, you can go about doing some detailed investigation. Decide what you want from your bank account: Is it a savings vehicle? A cheque account? A fixed deposit plan? You will find that every bank will offer a variation on the scheme you are looking for.

By simply comparing products from a range of banking establishments, you should be able to easily find the account that suits your needs. Remember to consider interest rates, banking charges and things like customer service as well; this will ensure the outcome of your search is ideally suited.
