We have started a pilot project in Croydon, called the Employment and Well Being Project. The project is run by Hannah and Nicole of Depression Alliance, the UK’s national depression charity.
The project in a non-medical service to help people in Croydon who experience depression and anxiety. Based on the premise of self-help, the project looks at ways to support people to build confidence, engage with social community activities and build a supportive network of friends.
There are three main components to the project:
1. Depression Alliance Time Bank
2. Social events: join project members in attending local activities, events and outings as a chance to build a supportive network of friends and develop new hobbies and interests
3. Physical activity: gain support and motivation from project members to join local exercise activities and understand the benefit this has in the recovery from depression and anxiety.
